.About The Extravaganza

The Idea…

Extravaganza is a annual cultural festival hosted by ISA which takes place in the second week of April. It is a week-long festival which begins with every region holding an event each day. Sometimes, two regions may hold their events on the same day. The festival ends with a grand finale that takes place on the Saturday of that weekend. It is also the biggest cultural event that takes place at Lafayette College in an academic year.

The main aims of Extravaganza are to uphold the ideals of ISA and to carry out the “triple-E” procedure:

  • Establish and deepen bonds between students of all cultures and ethnicities
  • Educate others of one’s own culture and traditions
And of course, the last but not the least
  • Entertain the general audience

The Events…

As said before, Extravaganza is a week-long festival. Throughout the week, the different regions will have an exhibition, a brown-bag on the designated day and various evening activities. There is also an international food tasting where the international students cook food from their home countries for the general student body and faculty and guests. A second showcase event is also hosted on the same day as the food tasting. The food tasting and other event takes place on Friday. The grand finale takes place on the Saturday of the Extravaganza week and consists of performances of people from the different regions. The grand finale is open for the general student body, faculty and guests.
