Dialang is a language proficiency test, based on the Council of Europe's "Common European Framework of Reference". The Framework consists of six levels of language proficiency, ranging from A1, A2 (basic language users), B1, B2 (independent users) to C1, C2 (proficient users) and is considered the most widely recognized frame of reference in the field of language learning. To see a detailed explanation of these levels, please click here. Students are encouraged to take and retake the tests at different stages of their college experience so as to document their progress. Since the Council does not offer certificates, each Lafayette student must hand-record the score and descriptor, given at the end of each test. The table below has been provided for this purpose.
